Soulspiration

We are a spirit, we have a soul, and we live in a body. Our spirit is what connects us to God, and what will return to Him either in physical death, or at His second coming (1Thess 4:16-17). Our soul, well that is the creative expression of who we are individually. I believe it is that Psalm 139:14 fearfully and wonderfully made part of us.
I am talking about our mind, will, emotions, and unique personality.

It is also our individual make up. You know, like the reason why you like Root Beer floats, and I like mine with Pepsi and chocolate ice cream. Or why two siblings from the same parents can end up one as a social butterfly, and the other one can be a total recluse. We are different by design. Our soul is often the overlooked part of our life.
We do a lot of things that build our Spiritual life, and even our physical health. But we aren’t “spiritual” all of the time. We get to enjoy life in our distinctive personality. ♥

Happy Flowers

I began a wonderful journey of self-discovery several years ago. The cover of my book Hey Girl Hey, You ARE a Gift WITH a Gift, is the result of that pursuit. I took a season of life to start to love myself, and find out the things that I enjoyed. Not the mom, or the wife (at the time), but the beautiful self-neglected woman. I realized just how much flowers inspire me. They have a way of turning my day around. Not just any flowers. Oh no, you can keep your pricey red roses. I like happy flowers.  The kind of bright ones that bring joy and delight to the people around them. I don’t wait for anyone to buy them for me. I often will buy myself flowers and put them on my desk at work. Let someone comment on how beautiful they are, and we are going to share those flowers. It is just one of the things in life that delights my soul.

What Delights Your Soul?

It’s not about the flowers, but it is about being so fully alive that we get to experience life by design. Filling our lives with the things we enjoy. My hippie chick, flower child, love and sparkly personality may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I am ok with that. I like me. God broke the mold when He made each one of us. I heard a great quote many years ago. I liked it so much I wish I could take credit for it. It goes like this…

“If two of us are identical, one of us is unnecessary.”

I hope that you will begin to fully enjoy the everyday life kind of things. Don’t live with a bucket list. No turn that into a SOULSPIRATION list. Make it your mission to stop apologizing for the way you are wired, and start enjoying the things that will delight your soul.

Pay it Foward

Taking notice of the things that bring joy and delight to other people is a way that we can share Soulspiration. Have you ever opened the mailbox and received a package with something you loved in it? Being thought about is a beautiful feeling. I often observe what color people like,  candy that they eat, or even their drink of choice to give them something for no reason. It’s Tuesday, here is a treat.  Bringing even seemingly small insignificant things to someone can delight their soul, and will fill you with more Soulspiration too! We need more of this in the world.
